The Spatial Durbin Model and the Common Factor Tests

Abstract

The spatial Durbin model occupies an interesting position in the field of spatial econometrics. It is the reduced form of a model with cross-sectional dependence in the errors and it may be used as the nesting equation in a more general approach of model selection. Specifically, in this equation we obtain the common factor tests (of which the likelihood ratio is the best known) whose objective is to discriminate between substantive and residual dependence in an apparently misspecified equation. Our paper tries to delve deeper into the role of the spatial Durbin model in the problem of specifying a spatial econometric model. We include a Monte Carlo study related to the performance of the common factor tests presented in the paper in small sample sizes.

提高交接计量精度 降低管输原油损耗

用有限元计算方法对某型半挂车车架的强度进行了分析计算。通过有限元仿真计算,提出在进行局部加强的同时,采用细而密的横梁结构的优化方案,解决了原来结构的应力集中现象,确保半挂车的结构强度。     

Fueling agricultural growth in India: Some reflections

Indian agriculture is experiencing under-performance despite increased attention given to it in the recent past. This paper analyzes the disparities in agricultural growth across Indian states and explores the determinants of agricultural growth, using Panel Corrected Standard Error approach. Analysis using beta convergence shows that the disparities across the state's agricultural growth are narrowing down for the period 1980–1981 to 2011–2012. However, to stimulate growth in the states where agriculture is lagging behind, a higher emphasis on increasing the area under irrigation, expenditure on agricultural research, area under fruits and vegetables, number of regulated markets, length of roads, cold storage facilities and institutional credit for investment purposes is needed. Private sector should be involved in public–private-partnership mode for improving the infrastructure in this sector.     

ARBITRAGE BOUNDS FOR PRICES OF WEIGHTED VARIANCE SWAPS

We develop a theory of robust pricing and hedging of a weighted variance swap given market prices for a finite number of co‐maturing put options. We assume the put option prices do not admit arbitrage and deduce no‐arbitrage bounds on the weighted variance swap along with super‐ and sub‐replicating strategies that enforce them. We find that market quotes for variance swaps are surprisingly close to the model‐free lower bounds we determine. We solve the problem by transforming it into an analogous question for a European option with a convex payoff. The lower bound becomes a problem in semi‐infinite linear programming which we solve in detail. The upper bound is explicit. We work in a model‐independent and probability‐free setup. In particular, we use and extend Föllmer's pathwise stochastic calculus. Appropriate notions of arbitrage and admissibility are introduced. This allows us to establish the usual hedging relation between the variance swap and the “log contract” and similar connections for weighted variance swaps. Our results take the form of a FTAP: we show that the absence of (weak) arbitrage is equivalent to the existence of a classical model which reproduces the observed prices via risk‐neutral expectations of discounted payoffs.     

社会经济调查中整群抽样的应用及误差处理方法

本文从技术上探讨了整群抽样在社会经济调查中的适应性及其基本运用,重点分析了整群抽样在实施过程中的误差问题,指出并分析了总体的变异效应、群体效应、单位比率变异度的效应、群体规模效应和偏差效应等五种因素对整群抽样的误差的影响方式和特点,并分析了各种情况下的具体处理方法。     

我国就业影响因素实证研究——基于JJ协整模型与ECM模型的分析

本文使用索洛模型为基础的变化模型研究我国就业量的影响因素,引入国民生产总值、城市化率、居民消费水平、历年全社会固定资产投资、第三产业增加值为解释变量做实证研究,建立时间序列分析模型,并通过各变量间的JJ协整关系模型与误差修正模型说明各因素对就业的长短期影响,结果表明长期内我国国内生产总值对就业总量有显著地正向拉动作用,城市化率与就业总量有显著地负相关关系,居民消费水平长期内与就业总量成正相关关系,第三产业增加值与就业总量有微弱的负相关关系,短期内我国就业总量受到自身滞后期的正向冲击且需要外力拉动。在此结论基础上本文尝试提出了相关政策建议。
